HDR Photos

Image
Canon 1 - HDR Merged Image This image shows three images of a canon which has been bracketed, this displays a higher range if colours and brightnesses, this allows lighter images but they can still keep their contrasts, shadows.

Raw Photographs

Raw Photographs 1. What is a RAW image? 2. What image type allows a photo to be previewed on a camera's screen? 3. Give some benefits of shooting RAW rather than JPEG. 1. Raw photographs include more data than a JPEG or PNG (for example), it is NOT compressed, this is usually a proprietary format, e.g. the Nikon Electric Format or NEF, these store exact "RAW" data directly from the sensors, they are lossless and allow adjustment of certain parameters e.g. White Balance. 2. JPEG Files can be viewed on cameras and also other devices 3. Benefits to RAW photos is that they are lossless, uncompressed and allow you to adjust the white balance and exposure to an extent. Exposure 1. What is under exposure? The image does not have enough light for what you are doing, exposure amounts are subjective as you may want to to a longer exposure,  2. What is over exposure? Over exposed images are too bright for what you are doing, they show flushed colours in mostly white colours and they

Artist Research - Paul Reiffer

Image
Paul Reiffer Paul Reiffer is a photographer, his style is 'getting it right in-camera' as he was annoyed that photographs were edited so much in 2015 onwards, he focused on getting photos with minimal editing, although Paul has photographed many things, I'm focusing on his sunset photography.  When Paul photographs the sky, he ensures there is a nice focus of the image, meaning, he does not just take photos of the sky, he ensures there is a subject to focus on, the photos also look to be longer exposure photos, this is noticeable because the subjects (e.g, the temple, mountain and sea arch) are in focus and are lit up. At sunset, it is darker than it seems. The water in the two photos with the mountain and sea arch in it is shown as a white region of the image, the texture shown is smoother, implying the photographer had the camera on a tripod and went for long exposure.     This image is a shorter exposure to get the sky but still get the temple in a decent light level a

Italian Futurism

Image
I never knew that Futurism, which I had always known as "Light Trail Photography" was invented/ it came around in 1911. I've never seen the art form "Futurism" however I recognise the effects employed in it that is used in a lot of older movies / films to transfer between scenes. I've tried this method of photography before however, I had poor results due to the incorrect settings on the camera.  Futurism includes expression of things using light and other previously unused methods of imagery, both in art and photography, below i have compiled my own attempts at this method of photography.

Darkroom Chemicals

Developer makes the image appear,  it ‘develops’ it. Over-developing can cause damage to the image to fall off. Stop Bath, this chemical stops the developer as to not make an over-developed image  Fixer rinses any excess chemicals off and ‘fixes’ the film so it isn’t light sensitive any longer. Over-fixing can cause the paper to go pink due to over-developing Wash, washes the chemicals off of the film, prevents too much fixer or developer causing problems. Also, some artefacts in the images can be caused when you touch the film, also, light spots and non-exposed points can appear due to spattering of chemicals or a poor light-seal on your camera of choice. When developing film, people sometimes pull it out of the clamp, this can tear or mark the film or the chemical coverings on the film.

Still Life

Image
Still life allows a photographer to present an object in a neutral scene, this causes a viewer to instantly focus on the subject. This photography method is used in advertisement often as the advertiser can cause the viewers to focus on the product.

Pop Art plan

Pop Art Plan Set-up a white backdrop, or a green backdrop, allows green screening for other image types. Subject placed under a large amount of lighting, creates a light image unless the subject is open to light.
