Italian Futurism

Image
I never knew that Futurism, which I had always known as "Light Trail Photography" was invented/ it came around in 1911. I've never seen the art form "Futurism" however I recognise the effects employed in it that is used in a lot of older movies / films to transfer between scenes. I've tried this method of photography before however, I had poor results due to the incorrect settings on the camera.  Futurism includes expression of things using light and other previously unused methods of imagery, both in art and photography, below i have compiled my own attempts at this method of photography.

Darkroom Chemicals

Developer makes the image appear,  it ‘develops’ it. Over-developing can cause damage to the image to fall off. Stop Bath, this chemical stops the developer as to not make an over-developed image  Fixer rinses any excess chemicals off and ‘fixes’ the film so it isn’t light sensitive any longer. Over-fixing can cause the paper to go pink due to over-developing Wash, washes the chemicals off of the film, prevents too much fixer or developer causing problems. Also, some artefacts in the images can be caused when you touch the film, also, light spots and non-exposed points can appear due to spattering of chemicals or a poor light-seal on your camera of choice. When developing film, people sometimes pull it out of the clamp, this can tear or mark the film or the chemical coverings on the film.

Still Life

Image
Still life allows a photographer to present an object in a neutral scene, this causes a viewer to instantly focus on the subject. This photography method is used in advertisement often as the advertiser can cause the viewers to focus on the product.
